Media Production for Non-Profit
Since 2010, Joe has dedicated time as a volunteer and media professional and consultant to non-profits and NGOs with missions of supporting renewable and sustainable energy around the globe, and promoting economic and social empowerment for the underserved.
Recognizing that awareness of meaningful humanitarian causes is generated largely through social outreach, Joe has committed years of effort to providing media services to organizations promoting and inspiring action and change, on both global and local scales.
A 501(c)3 non-profit organization and incubator focused on developing and supporting alternative energy solutions. By providing resources, both human and monetary, establishing partnerships, and raising awareness for supported projects, Hatch International has inspired individuals and powerful ideas around the globe.
As staff video director and media consultant, Joe operated alongside the Director of Communications and met regularly with the Executive Director and Board to pitch and consult on video and media strategies, and wrote, directed, and produced short promotional and informational videos for web distribution. Throughout the organization’s rebranding and mission evolution, Joe led the shift from general purpose videos to a focus on producing short project-specific documentaries and video spots.
Vort Port International
A 501(c)3 non-profit organization founded and operated entirely by volunteers, Vort Port was built up through a number of successful prototypes and pilot projects (Biodigesters in Madagascar; Solar Lamps in India; Bamboo Bicycles in Uganda) and regular fundraising campaigns and events in the US to support its endeavors.
Following several years of growth, Vort Port International rebranded and evolved into Hatch International.
Joining the volunteer staff of Vort Port International in its inaugural year as a multimedia producer, Joe helped create and launch a media presence for the new organization. Writing and producing videos, generating promotional materials, and providing consultation and media expertise to the Founder and Board of Directors, Joe worked to promote successful fundraising events and raise awareness for the organization’s early projects and overseas ventures.
Yap About It, Inc.
A 501(c)3 non-profit focused on promoting and providing financial support for access to therapy and mental health resources. Born and built in New York City, Yap About It supports young people in the five boroughs who lack healthy support systems and who are coping with trauma, and acts as an essential resource within the gap between access to essential mental health resources and young lives in need.
Filling an essential need in early phases of the organization’s development, Joe has provided graphic design, copy writing and editing, and media and communications consultation to the Executive Director and Board. A longtime resident of New York City and passionate advocate for the vulnerable and underserved, Joe connected with the mission of an organization devoted to providing free access to mental health resources in the city, one young person at a time.
